MIDDLETOWN, Dauphin County, Pa. -- A good early in the season showdown took place between Middletown and Bishop McDevitt on Friday night.

Middletown has elevated themselves to join the elite teams in the state the past couple of seasons while Bishop McDevitt has been in that company for awhile.

This head-to-head matchup took place at the home of the Blue Raiders.

In the second quarter, with Bishop McDevitt ahead 19-7, quarterback Chase Diehl drops back, ran a play action play to perfection and capitalized by tossing it all the downfield to the goal line. Bishop McDevitt wide receiver  Nazir Burnett hauled in the pass and ran it in to extend their lead to 26-7.

It wasn't all easy for Bishop McDevitt, however. On their next drive, quarterback Chase Diehl couldn't find anywhere to go with it and was sacked by Middletown cornerback Chris Joseph.

Bishop McDevitt bounced back right away on the very next play. Quarterback Chase Diehl found wide receiver Julian Jordan who, after making a few defenders miss, took the ball all the way to the endzone.

The Crusaders pull away for the win, 40-14 win.

The win was also a milestone victory for coach Jeff Weachter, earning him his 200th win for McDevitt.

Bishop McDevitt: 40

Middletown: 14
