LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa.-- UPDATE (12:30 p.m.): The Lancaster NAACP released a statement about the shooting Monday. It reads:

The NAACP Lancaster Branch is aware of, on the scene and is investigating a police involved shooting that took place in the City of Lancaster on Sunday evening, September 16, 2018. The NAACP is gathering facts, seeking answers, and calling out for any witnesses with information concerning the police involved shooting. We have also reached out to Public officials, District Attorneys office, members of the family and Law Enforcement in regards to this incident. The NAACP will receive information and review any complaints resulting from use of force, or alleging discrimination by members of the police department or any other victims involved.At this time, the NAACP is still investigating the matter and reserves further comment until further investigation is completed. The NAACP extends condolences to the family and victims involved in this incident.

UPDATE (11:30 a.m.): Police have identified the deceased from an officer-involved shooting in Lancaster on Sunday night.

Ricardo Avenia, 29, was shot as he was seen holding a woman at gunpoint inside the home in the 500 block of Pershing Avenue.

The gun that was in Avenia's possession was recovered at the scene.

UPDATE: A man is dead following a shooting in Lancaster City.

Authorities are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting in the 500 block of Pershing Avenue.

Police confirm that they responded to the scene for a hostage situation involving a female.

According to police, a male suspect allegedly held a gun to the woman's head when police arrived on the scene.

That suspect is dead after a single gunshot wound to the head.

Two children were at home at the time of the incident, and the woman in the hostage situation is being questioned by police.

More details are expected to be released later today.

PREVIOUSLY: Police are investigating two separate shootings in Lancaster City.

According to police, the first shooting occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday night in the 500 block of Pershing Avenue.

Authorities say it was an officer-involved shooting and there was one victim in the incident. There is no word on the extent of that person's injury.

The second shooting occurred around 10:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Green Street. There was one victim in that incident as well, and he was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
