Woman charged after infant child who was allegedly under her care ingested heroin

LANCASTER COUNTY –An Ephrata woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of children, according to police.

Police allege that in late July, an infant child — under the care of 28-year-old Brittany Ruth — ingested heroin at a residence in Ephrata.

Police received notification of the alleged incident through the ChildLine system when Ruth brought the child to the hospital for treatment.
