MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, Lancaster County, Pa. -- The 4A title game was a repeat of last year's matchup between Bishop McDevitt and Berks Catholic. The Saints got the best of the Crusaders in last year's contest, winning 45-24.
Berks Catholic was searching for its third district title in a row.
Bishop McDevitt took a lead early, and they grew the lead in the second quarter. The Crusaders senior quarterback, Chase Diehl connected with Julian Jordan to extend the Bishop McDevitt lead to 20-7, late in the second quarter.
But the Saints didn't go down without a fight. Terry Derr rolled to his right and connected with Luis Garcia for a touchdown to close the gap. It made the Crusaders lead shrink to just three points at 34-31.
Bishop McDevitt sealed the game with a solid touchdown drive in the fourth. Diehl capped it with a touchdown strike to Nazir Burnett. Bishop McDevitt avenged last year's loss. They claim the district championship with the win, 41-31.
