HERSHEY, Dauphin County, Pa. -- In Class 3A, Middletown was in the state quarterfinals against Conwell-Egan in a game at Milton-Hershey on Friday night.
In the first, it's scoreless, until the Blue Raiders' Jose Lopez raced around the right side, went 88-yards, untouched, into the endzone. Middletown took the early 7-0 lead. And Lopez was just getting started.
In the second quarter, on a second-and-29 for Middletown, Lopez managed to pick up the first down and more. The junior back waited for his blockers, and he took the ball for a 46-yard touchdown to make it 14-0. Lopez had 191 rushing yards at the half.
Lopez completed the hat trick in the third, scoring his third touchdown as he whirled into endzone to put the Blue Raiders up 21-7.
Conwell-Egan stayed in the game throughout, making it a one score game in the final minute.
The Blue Raiders managed to fend off the Eagles, 21-14.
