YORK COUNTY, Pa.– A trick on a telemarketer went wrong when police responded to a person’s house under the ruse that someone had been “tied up and gagged.”

On December 13, police performed a welfare check on a person in a home in the 200 block of Spring Meadows Road in East Manchester Township.

A telemarketer told police that they were on the phone with a subject when the phone went dead.

The telemarketer reportedly called back, and a man said the person was unable to speak to them because they were being “tied up and gagged.”

Police responded to the residence only to find that the subject was “messing with” the telemarketer, and allegedly made up the story because they “kept waking him up.”
