LANCASTER — Fire crews extinguished a two-alarm blaze at a building on the 300 block of South Marshall Street Tuesday morning.

The fire was first reported at 10:18 a.m., according to the Lancaster Bureau of Fire. A total of six different fire crews were summoned to the scene, due to concerns about the fire spreading. The building is one of several row homes on the block, fire officials say.

The was a “tremendous” amount of smoke and fire in the back of the building’s second floor, according to fire officials. It took firefighters about 10 minutes to control the blaze.

An undetermined number of people were inside the residential building at the time of the fire, and all were safely evacuated, fire officials say. No firefighters were injured.

(Update, 2:25 p.m.) The American Red Cross later said it provided resources for five adults displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to fire officials.
