BERKS COUNTY — State Police have identified one of the two people killed in an early morning crash Sunday in Berks County.

Lindsey A. Rumbel, 24, and a 17-year-old passenger died when Rumbel’s 2003 Chevrolet Malibu crossed over the double yellow line and collided head-on with a 2016 GMC Sierra driven by Thomas D. Balthaser, 60. Rumbel and the 17-year-old passenger, who was in the back seat of Rumbel’s vehicle, died at the scene, police say. Another passenger in Rumbel’s vehicle, Lindsey R. Swartz, 18, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.

The minor passenger will not be identified, police say.

Balthaser was also injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.

The crash occurred Sunday at 4:37 a.m. on Bernville Road in the area of Zerbe Drive in Penn Township, according to police.
