5 adults, 3 children displaced in York after overnight fire

York – York City Fire Department says a candle displaced eight people in the City of York overnight.

The fire broke out shortly after 11:00 p.m., Saturday on the 600 block of East Market Street.

According to the department, the fire was caused by a candle sitting too close to a mattress.  A cat died in the home.

Five adults and three children were displaced.

The damage is estimated at $95,000.
