HARRISBURG -- Multiple people were detained Monday in connection with an afternoon robbery in Harrisburg, according to police.

The robbery occurred just before 3 p.m. at a Rite Aid on the 1900 block of Derry Street.

Police say several individuals entered the store with handguns and a rifle and stole money and prescriptions. There were no injuries involved in the robbery, police add.

Dawn Saylor, who frequents the store, said the robbery didn't make sense to her.

“Honestly, it doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t understand why you would lash out at other people. There are people who have families in here. People who have sisters, brothers, you know, kids. I see these people every day and know them by name…This makes me incredibly sad,” said Saylor.

Earl Swartz, who also goes to the Rite Aid, believes these situations are becoming an "unfortunate" norm.

“People got to get a job, that’s what’s wrong with them. Too many guns...When I was a kid, I never, we never locked our doors. Now, you better put two bolts on them,” said Swartz.

After the suspects fled the area, police said their investigation led them to the 2300 block of North 6th Street.

Police say they took people into custody from that scene as part of the Rite Aid robbery investigation.

Police note that it's too early to tell if this robbery is related to the five that occurred on Saturday.

“We need the public’s help right now. These individuals did have weapons and we have to make sure our community is safe," said Capt. Gabriel Olivera with Harrisburg Police.
