Police chase ends at Turkey Hill store, nearby railroad tracks in Lancaster County; suspect in custody

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa.-- UPDATE (8:45 a.m.): Police are investigating an overnight incident that began with a police pursuit and ended with a suspect in custody.

According to State Trooper Kelly Osborne, police were involved in pursuit of a vehicle towards Chester County around 3:35 a.m. on May 6. That pursuit last for 45 minutes.

The suspect vehicle fled to Route 30 in Chester County before turning and heading west on Route 30 to Route 283.

Police say that once the suspect vehicle exited Route 283, State Police became involved in the pursuit.

The suspect led police to the Turkey Hill store parking lot in the 200 block of Main Street in Landisville around 4:15 a.m., and was found to be cornered there.

Police say that a State Trooper's vehicle was struck in the Turkey Hill parking lot, and police fired shots at the suspect's vehicle, but did not hit the suspect.

Then, the suspect attempted to flee in the vehicle to railroad tracks before getting out and continuing on foot.

At one point, the suspect allegedly picked up a 2x4 and attempted to hit police before being taken into custody with the use of tasers.

The suspect was identified as a 39-year-old black man from Chester County, and fled police because of a traffic violation and suspect DUI.

Police say that the suspect is being treated from injuries he suffered that were not from gunshots.

The Turkey Hill store will be closed until the investigation is over.

The store, located in the 200 block of Main Street in Landisville, is currently taped off by police.

According to emergency dispatch, police are investigating an incident that occurred overnight.
