Sinkhole opens up in field in Palmyra

LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. -- A sinkhole has opened up in Palmyra.

It's located in a retention base behind the residential area of MacIntosh Crossing, near East Spruce Street and North Forge Road.

Officials from the MacIntosh development group say the sinkhole is about 20-feet deep and is the second sinkhole that's formed in the retention base. They filled in the first one in about three months ago.

Recently, sinkholes have been common, and this isn't the only one Palmyra is dealing with. One has repeatedly shut down parts of route 422, and crews just finished fixing a hole on route 117.

Officials with the development have a safety barrier in place around the sinkhole, and hope to get it fixed right away.
