ADAMS COUNTY, Pa.– A Gettysburg man was taken to the hospital after crashing into the square in Gettysburg, causing his vehicle to ctach fire.

Matthew Capas, 43, was taken to the hospital after suffering moderate injuries, according to police.

On September 26 around 12:45 a.m., emergency service responders were dispatched to Lincoln Square for a reported crash.

Upon arrival, police found a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier that had run into the island in the square.

Witnesses told police that the vehicle had been traveling south at a speed well in excess of the limit before crashing into the square.

After the crash, the vehicle caught fire, and police arrived as a bystander was pulling Capas out of the burning vehicle.

Police noted that Capas appeared intoxicated, and the blood test taken to determine his blood alcohol content is still pending.
