LEWISBERRY, Pa. — If you've ever dreamed of shredding down a mountain while munching on warm, crispy bacon, Roundtop Mountain Resort in the place for you.
The resort is gearing up to host its second annual Winter Carnival on Saturday, and there will be pocket bacon aplenty.
"Pocket bacon... is bacon that you put in your pocket and enjoy later," Ted McDowell, Roundtop's general manager, explained before the inaugural carnival. "We came up with a recipe and a little packet we made from aluminum foil and we bake a bunch of fresh bacon off in the morning, wrap it in aluminum foil to keep it nice and hot and then when guests come by in the morning we can hand them some bacon in some aluminum foil. They put it in their pocket, then riding up the lift if they need a little burst? A little pocket bacon." Ted McDowell
Guests can also enjoy face painting, games, raffles, live music, a pop-up bar, fireworks--and of course, snacks other than bacon. Skiers and riders ages 13 and up can also sign up to participate in the Toyota Rail Jam, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
"Community is what's important to us," McDowell said. "We are part of the community. We love just kind of celebrating winter; you know, winter can get kind of dark an ddreaery and people get kind of inside for a little bit because it's cold outside, and we like to bring people outside, enjoy the great outdoors, enjoy the mountain, get on top of our mountain and get a view of the whole area, see the spectacular area we live in ad just really enjoy winter."

The Winter Carnival will take place on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. and is free to attend. Roundtop Mountain Resort is located at 925 Roundtop Rd. in Lewisberry.
