Alex Cawley joined FOX43 as a Sports Reporter and Anchor in August 2019. He was born in Scranton, but grew up in Harrisburg and is beyond excited to return to the midstate where his love for sports began.
Prior to his arrival at FOX43, Alex served as Sports Director at WTAJ in Altoona-State College, where he provided sports coverage for over 80 high schools, Saint Francis University, and Penn State, including PSU football’s Big Ten Championship, Rose Bowl, and Fiesta Bowl appearances.
Previously, Alex also covered NASCAR and the many racing series that passed through Watkins Glen International as Sports Director at WETM in Elmira, New York.
His journalism career began in Beaumont, Texas as a Sports Reporter and weekend Anchor at KFDM. While there, he enjoyed some of the best BBQ, became familiar with the religion that is Texas high school football, and covered Lamar University’s baseball and basketball teams advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
During his career in journalism, Alex has won a pair of Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Awards for ‘Outstanding Television Coverage of a Local Sporting Event,’ a New York State Broadcasters Association Award for ‘Outstanding Sportscast,’ and a Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Award for ‘Best Sports Story.’
Alex graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. When he’s not reporting, you can find him supporting the same teams from his childhood here in central PA, looking for a place with the PAC-12 Network so he can cheer on his Sun Devils, testing his knowledge and luck at trivia night, continuing a 25 year search for his golf swing, hiking, and even occasionally shooting some hoops.
