HARRISBURG, Pa. — It’s theatre with a twist, where music tells the story of a legendary band.
Open Stage in Harrisburg is gearing up for its production of ‘Go Your Own Way: A Celebration of Fleetwood Mac’.
TJ Creedon, vocalist and staging director for the production, says the vibe of the show is good.
The show takes the audience back to the 70s with the music of the British American rock band Fleetwood Mac and costumes that evoke their spirit.
Madison Eppley, one of the vocalists in the show, says it’s different being on stage when you’re not playing a character.
“It’s always much more vulnerable playing myself. I always preferred to honestly hide behind a character. So, it can be very freeing to be yourself, it’s also a little scary,” said Eppley.
Another one of the show's vocalists says the familiar music of Fleetwood Mac helps him feel more comfortable being himself on stage.
“You feel like you’re at home with these songs because you’ve been hearing them forever and I think you’ll know more of the words than you might expect,” said Creedon.
Stuart Landon, production artistic director, talks more about the show in the live interview on FOX43 Morning News at Nine below:
Although the show is much like a concert, Creedon also says the music shares the story of Fleetwood Mac behind the scenes.
“There was she’s dating her, but now he’s dating him and they’re all mad at each other,” said Creedon. “And I think we can hear bits and pieces of that in the music throughout.”
But besides the drama, Eppley says the music within this show is healing and necessary for the times that we’re living in.
“I hope they take away that little slice of home. I want them to feel connected with us and each other,” said Eppley. “And it’s really beautiful hearing the lyrics and just like really connecting with that very human experience.”
Performances of ‘Go Your Own Way: a Celebration of Fleetwood Mac’ at Open Stage start Friday, Sept. 6 and run through Saturday, Sept. 21. Ticket information can be found here.
