York County middle schooler wins national art contest

School staff say they are amazed at Jayden Gross's talent and proud of her for winning such a great award at a young age.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A York County middle school student won a national art contest.

The National Association of Counties challenged young minds to create a piece of art that showcases why they love the county they live in so much.

Jayden Gross was selected as the winner and will have her piece of art featured in an upcoming York County calendar. School staff say they are amazed at her talent and proud of her for winning such a great award at a young age.

"This is an annual contest that NACo hosts, so Jayden can certainly do the same thing again next year, but the fact that she's one out of 12 across our nation is phenomenal," Julie Wheeler, president commissioner of York County, said.

A print of Jayden's artwork will be hung in the county administration building for everyone to see.
