Previewing 'Tuck Everlasting' at Servant Stage | Center Stage

"Tuck Everlasting" is the story of a young girl who must decide whether to drink the secret to immortality or continue living her normal life.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — It’s the story of a young girl who has to decide whether to drink the secret to immortality or live out her normal life.

Servant Stage is putting on a production of "Tuck Everlasting’ in Lancaster County.

“What would you do if you could live forever?" asked Andrew Zahn, who plays Angus Tuck.

According to Zahn, that’s just one of the thought-provoking questions the show will ask.

The main character, Winnie, springs off on an adventure after a fight with her mom and meets a family that drank from a fountain that gave them immortality. The musical then follows her journey as she decides whether to live forever.

“It’s been said that the most important word in Shakespeare is the word time, and this show is all about the life cycle that we all go through, from birth to death and what’s beyond,” said Zahn.

The show's producer, Johnathan Bauer, expressed that this is a big production for Servant Stage, with over 50 performers. The show will be held at Warwick High School in Lancaster County, as Servant Stage hasn’t had a place to call home since its inception 10 years ago.

“It certainly is a challenge, but I think we look at it like it’s more of an opportunity than a challenge," stated Bauer. "Where if we had the same space for every single show that would kind of be limiting us in a sense.”

Zahn hopes that "Tuck Everlasting," which is based on a best-selling children’s book and movie, leaves the audience with a valuable lesson.

“We can get so caught up in all the other things that are happening, but at the end of our lives it's [about] who have we loved and how have we let them love us," declared Zahn. "That’s really [what] I think [is] the core of what Tuck Everlasting is all about,” said Zahn.

Performances of “Tuck Everlasting” will begin on Sept. 13 and last until the 29th.
