Back-to-school is the time to get creative with crafts, snacks

Party Host Helpers has fun and creative ideas to change up the same old back-to-school snacks and crafts.

YORK, Pa. — Back-to-school season is busy and full of conflicting emotions.

It can be nice to sit down, have a snack and do a little crafting to help relax during this stressful time.

Renee Patrone Rhinehart, founder and CEO of Party Host Helpers, shares some ideas for snacks and crafts that are both fun to make and capture the essence of the season.

Snacks

No-Bake Peanut Butter Cheerio Bars

Peanut butter

Directions

Melt the peanut butter, then mix everything together and let it set.

Pencil Snack

Supplies

Decorating/piping bag

Chocolate chips

Popcorn

Goldfish

Hershey's Kisses (silver)

Starbursts (pink)

Ribbon

Directions

Layer the food items in the cone-shaped decorating bag in order so the colors resemble a pencil. Twist the bag shut and tie the ribbon around it.

Ribbon

Directions

Cut the craft paper into a rectangle, then decorate it with items like stickers, cut-out shapes and marker messages. Poke a hole in the top and tie the ribbon through it.

Handprint Crayon Box

Craft paper (yellow and white)

Scissors

Glue

Directions

Cut the yellow craft paper into squares. Trace a child's hand on the white craft paper and cut it out, then glue it to the back of the yellow rectangle so the fingers resemble crayons sticking out of a box. Have the child decorate the "crayons" and "box."
