YORK, Pa. — Martin Library will look even more like a literature lovers' haven this weekend.

The York County library is set to host over 20 local authors for meet and greets and book signings. Featured presenters include well-known writers Brian Keene, Lindsay Hameroff and Sandra L. Kearse-Stockton.

“Martin Library is excited to showcase the talents of so many area writers,” said Martin Library director Mina Edmondson. “This event presents a wonderful opportunity for community members to meet local authors and experience their writing styles during book readings that day.”

Edmondson says all three featured authors have strong ties to York County.

Kearse-Stockton is a York native who chronicled part of her life story in the trilogy "480 Codorus Street." She also wrote “There is Always Room for One More,” a book about foster care.

"Her work offers a poignant reflection on survival and the trials of creating a blended family," event organizers said in a press release.

Keene is best known for his book "The Rising," which is event organizers say is credited with bringing zombies back into pop culture. Several of his stories have been adapted for film and featured in franchises such as "Doctor Who," "Thor" and "The X-Files."

A former English teacher, Hameroff is a humorist whose debut novel “Till There Was You” was published in February 2024. She has a second novel slated to follow in 2025. The Harrisburg-based author's works have appeared in outlets like "McSweeney’s Internet Tendency" and "The Belladonna."

“Martin Library is recognized for its dynamic programming that directly connects community members with subject experts,” says York County Libraries president Robert F. Lambert. “These upcoming festivities are geared toward both readers who love a great book and writers aspiring to be published.”

Meet and greets and book signings will take place on the first floor in the Atrium and Quiet Reading Room. Presentations by Keene, Hameroff and Kearse-Stockton will begin at 10:15 a.m. in the second floor Teens area, followed by readings from other participating writers.

The author event will be held from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. Admission is free, but books will be available for purchase and autograph. Martin Library can be found at 159 E. Market St. in downtown York.
