Adults encouraged to embrace their inner child at Keystone Kidspace's Party with Purpose

Party with Purpose is an annual fundraiser that turns the kids' paradise into an adult-size playground for one night only.

YORK, Pa. — Keystone Kidspace will turn into an adult paradise for one night only.

Usually a kids' dream, the maker space will instead be outfitted for adults for an annual fundraiser on Saturday night. Party with Purpose is a night for adults to embrace their inner child, play and help support the work Keystone Kidspace does for kids and families throughout the region.

"We know that adults like to play too," Jessica Brubaker, executive director, said. "We're a space for families; we have parents, guardians, grandparents, teachers in our space all the time, and they are always telling us, 'When are you going to do something just for us, so that we get to do all these fun things?' So this is the grown-ups' turn."

Organizers emphasize that this is not a typical night of philanthropy—there will be no suits, no heels, no speeches. The event is focused on fun experiences like glassblowing, live graffiti art, vintage letterpress printing and an immersive video music performance.

One of the main hands-on attractions will be a stationary bike that's usually used for kids to produce spin art or smoothies. This weekend, it will be used for adults to make their own frozen margaritas.

"The grown-ups get to do everything our kids get to do, but just amped up a little more," Jennifer Tansey, board president, said.

Keystone Kidspace opened during the pandemic to give kids a creative outlet and space to move their bodies. The organization will celebrate its third birthday on Oct. 5 with a free party for families.

Aside from special events, Keystone Kidspace offers drop-in hours during the weekend for kids to come play and a variety of educational programs and events during the week.

Tickets for Party with Purpose can be purchased online. Those interested can stay up-to-date with the latest party plans on Kidspace's Facebook and Instagram.
