108th Kipona Festival welcomes guests to Riverfront Park on Labor Day for culture, arts and more

The 108th annual Kipona Festival in Harrisburg celebrates Native American culture and also welcomes tons of vendors and artisans to share their craft.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Today is the last day of Harrisburg's annual Kipona Festival. The event features a variety of art, food and music, but a big part of it is honoring Native American heritage.

This is the festival’s 108th year bringing artists, dancers and the community together.

And each year, there’s something new and different to check out.

At Harrisburg’s Riverfront Park and City Island, you’ll see Native American Powwows that include native foods, music, intertribal dancing and more.

Kipona also hosts over 70 artisans who have a variety of handcrafted items such as jewelry, artwork, apparel, pottery, glassworks, bath and body products, home décor, etc.

There’s even an event for dog lovers, known as Keystone Dock Dogs, where you can witness pups jump into water.

Today in the UPMC Family Fun Zone is a free Bubble Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. where Grandpop Bubbles will make bubbles over 30 feet long.

Most of the activities at Kipona will begin at 11 a.m. and last until 6 p.m.

Admission to the festival is free, and there’s also free street parking.

Front Street will remain closed between Forster and Walnut Street until 11:59 tonight.
