High school musicals to see in central Pennsylvania in 2024

Many high schools in central Pennsylvania are hard at work rehearsing their spring musicals. Here is a list of shows you can attend.

As the world wakes up from winter, "The Sound of Music" starts to drift across central Pennsylvania.

Instead of "Singin' in the Rain" by yourself, consider attending one of the many spring musicals high school students are hard at work rehearsing.

Here is a list of performances students are putting on in central Pennsylvania during spring 2024.

Adams County

Bermudian Springs

Students will take to the theatre in an original New York stage production of "Fiddler on the Roof." Performances will be from March 1 - 3; Friday's and Saturday's shows will be at 7 p.m. with the Sunday performance taking place at 2 p.m. Click the link above to buy tickets.

Cumberland County

Big Spring

Follow the adventures of "Matilda" with Big Spring High School students from March 7 - 9. Performances on March 7 and 8 will be at 7 p.m., and March 9's performance will be at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the link above.

Cedar Cliff

Cedar Cliff Productions invites you to join them on the beautiful islands of Greece for "Mamma Mia." Shows will be at 4 p.m. on Feb. 22 and March 7 and 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 28. Tickets can be purchased here.

Students will also host a character breakfast on March 2 at 9 a.m. For those who want to meet Sophie, Sam and Donna and the Dynamos, tickets can be purchased here.

Mechanicsburg

Donna and Sophie will sing their hearts out on the Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School stage in "Mamma Mia." Wildcat Productions will present shows on Feb. 29 at 6:30 p.m., March 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. and March 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online.

The cast also invites guests to join them for Dinner Theatre before Saturday's show. Attendees can enjoy a dinner prepared by local businesses and community members in the school's cafeteria, which will be decorated in theme with the musical. Dinner tickets can be purchased as an add-on when buying tickets for the March 2 performance.

Dauphin County

Central Dauphin

Ariel will splash to life on Central Dauphin High School's stage in its production of "The Little Mermaid." Senior citizens will get the first chance to see the show with a free performance at 4 p.m. on Feb. 22. There will also be performances at 7 p.m. on Feb. 23, 2 2p.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 24 and 2 p.m. on Feb. 25. An American Sign Language interpreter will be available at Friday's show. Tickets can be bought online.

Dauphin County Technical School

The schools will bring its "Little Shop of Horrors" to the stage at 7 p.m. on March 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. on March 23 and 24. Tickets can be purchased online.

"Little Shop of Horrors" is about a plant store employee who discovers one of the plants has an appetite for flesh. Organizers note that some of the content of the show may not be suitable for everyone; viewer discretion is advised.

Franklin County

Chambersburg

The "Music Man" will take over Chambersburg Area High School with shows at 7:30 p.m. on April 19 and 20. Tickets will be available at the door.

Waynesboro

Head "Into the Woods" and experience fairytales come to life with students from Waynesboro Area Senior High School this spring. Performances will be at 7 p.m. on March 15 and 16 and 2 p.m. on March 17. Tickets can be purchased at the link above.

Lancaster County

Donegal

Click your ruby shoes and be transported into the world of "The Wizard of Oz" with Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion and Donegal Performing Arts students. Performances will be on March 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and March 9 and 10 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.

Ephrata

Follow the hijinks and hilarity of having three possible dads at your wedding with Ephrata High School students. "Mamma Mia!" will take to the stage on March 21 - 23 at 7 p.m. and March 23 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available for advance purchase.

Lancaster Mennonite

See classic comics come to life in a stage adaptation of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” Students will show off their hard work on stage on Feb. 22 - 24 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. Tickets can be bought ahead of time online.

Encore! Home School Productions

Students from across central Pennsylvania followed the yellow brick road to participate in Encore! Home School Productions' performance of "The Wizard of Oz." Shows will take place at The Junction Center, located at 1875 Junction Road in Manheim. Those interested can purchase tickets for shows on March 14, 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and March 17 at 2 p.m.

Lebanon County

Annville-Cleona

Annville-Cleona High School Students will join the "Leader of the Pack" on stage on March 14, 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. for a musical based on the life of singer/songwriter Elle Greenwich. Tickets are for sale at the district office now or can be purchased at the box office on show nights.

Mifflin County

Mifflin

Mifflin County High School takes on a timeless classic with a stage adaption of "The Wizard of Oz." Online ticket sales have ended, but tickets are still available to purchase in the MCHS Commons on Feb. 21 and 22 from 3:30 - 5 p.m. and one hour before showtimes. Performances will be at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 and 24 and 1 p.m. on Feb. 25.

Perry County

Greenwood

What would you do with unending youth? Greenwood High School Theater students will explore the question in "Tuck Everlasting" this March. There will be a 7 p.m. performance on March 22 and 23 and a 2 p.m. performance on March 23 and 24. Tickets can be bought online.

West Perry

Help West Perry High School students save Bikini Bottom from an undersea volcano in "The Spongebob Musical." Performances will be on March 7, 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and March 9 at 2 p.m. Click here to purchase tickets in advance.

York County

Central York

Central York High School will reimagine a Biblical story in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Joseph makes a name for himself after he discovers he can interpret dreams, just as the students will make a name for themselves onstage on April 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. and April 14 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be found here.

Dover

Suspend reality for a night with Dover High School students and their production of "Matilda." Those who really want to dive into the story are also invited to a character breakfast on Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. Tickets for the breakfast can be purchased at the door; tickets for the show are available online. Performances will be on March 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. and March 2 and 3 at 2 p.m.

Eastern York

The Broadway Knights at Eastern York High School will fight valiantly against a bloodthirsty plant in a production of "Little Shop of Horrors." Performances will be on April 4, 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. and April 6 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be bought at the high school's Performing Arts Center box office, at the door before each performance or online.

Northern York

Get your rhymes ready to join Dr. Seuss' motley cast of characters onstage at Northern High School for "Seussical." The show follows some of the author's most beloved creatures as they tell their stories. Performances will be on March 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. and March 3 at 3 p.m. Tickets can be bought online.

Red Land

Become part of Red Land High School students' world as they perform "The Little Mermaid." Students will put on a free senior citizen matinee on Feb. 28 at 2:30 p.m., as well as regularly scheduled shows at 7 p.m. from Feb. 29 - March 2 and 2 p.m. on March 3. Tickets can be purchased online.

Red Lion

Red Lion High School invites you to be their guest as they retell the classic story of "Beauty and the Beast." There will be a sign language interpreter available at the show on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. More performances will follow at 7 p.m. on March 1 and 2 and 2 p.m. on March 2 and 3. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door (cash only).

Spring Grove

Spring Grove High School students will have audiences "frozen" in their seats during their production of "Frozen Jr." Performances will be on March 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. and March 2 and 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be bought online at the link above until Feb. 29. After that, tickets will be available in the high school's main office until March 1 and at the door an hour before each performance. Tickets purchased at the door must be bought with cash and will cost an extra $2.

Susquehannock

High school students will put on a musical retelling of the classic story "The Princess and the Pea" with "Once Upon a Mattress." Join Prince Dauntless and his mother, Queen Aggravain, as they search for a princess for the prince to marry. Shows will take place on March 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. and March 24 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online.

West York

Accompany Belle through the woods and the ups and downs of love in West York High School's adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast." Tickets to performances on March 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. and March 3 at 2 p.m. can be purchased at the link above.
