YORK, Pa. — For kids who prefer to celebrate Halloween without the spookiness, these themed snacks and crafts might just be the only fright needed on All Hallows Eve.
Each snack can also be considered a craft within itself!
Party Host Helpers shares ideas for scary good food and fun.
Craft
Mummy Light Jar
Supplies
- Mason jar
- White tape
- Googly eyes
- Glue
- Battery-powered tea light
Directions
Wrap the mason jar in white tape so that it looks like a mummy's linens. Glue on the googly eyes, then drop the tea light inside for a comforting glow.
Snacks
Vampire donuts
Supplies
- Donuts (any kind)
- Edible eyes
- Plastic vampire teeth
Directions
Place the edible eyes above the donut hole, then put the vampire teeth over the hole so it looks like a mouth with sharp teeth.
"They're such a crowd pleaser if you're a mom, or helping with the Halloween party at school--these would be a hit," Renee Patrone Rhinehart, founder and CEO of Party Host Helpers, said.
Witch's broomstick
Supplies
- Small, fold-top plastic bags (not zippered)
- Pretzel sticks
- Ribbon, preferably in spooky colors or patterns
- Straw, preferably in spooky colors or patterns
Directions
Place the pretzel sticks in the plastic bags, then add a straw in the middle. Twist the bag shut and tie it closed with a ribbon, making sure the straw stays in the middle to look like a broom handle.
Spider lollipops
Supplies
- Lollipops
- Black pipe cleaners
- Googly eyes
Directions
Wrap the pipe cleaners around the lollipop sticks so that they look like spider legs. Add googly eyes to the middle where the legs and stick intersect.
