HERSHEY, Pa. — Tröegs Independent Brewing announced the grand prize winner of this year's Art of Tröegs contest.

Tröegs has held the contest annually for nearly 20 years and encourages its most artistic patrons to creatively express how much the brewery means to them.

"The drive to create is behind everything we do here at Tröegs: our small-batch Scratch Beer series, the seasonal Snack Bar, the collaborations we do and trips we take," Tröegs wrote on its website. "And for as long as we can remember, the Tröegs fans who share that creative spirit have been making art with our bottle caps, labels and cans."

This year's winner was Josh Stolberg, who submitted his piece entitled "Bird of Tröegs."

According to a Tröegs blog post about the competition, Stolberg used to be a mechanical engineer before pursuing art full-time. Stolberg used Tröegs bottlecaps, corks, cans and carriers to create a large, majestic falcon.

“This project was a particularly fun challenge,” Josh said in his accompanying inspiration story for his entry. “The shape of the Tröegs logo was perfect for the body feathers and originally got me thinking about making a bird. It took years - and a couple of road trips to the brewery - to collect everything used in this project.”

"Bird of Tröegs," along with many other pieces inspired by Tröegs, will be displayed at the 2024 Art of Tröegs Gallery Opening at the brewery on Saturday, Sept. 14. The gallery will open at 5 p.m. after the Tröegs Art Market, taking place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
