Behind the 'Dopamine Dressing' trend | On the Bright Side

"Dopamine Dressing" is a new trend for people who want their clothing to spark some extra joy. Two local business owners are bringing their colorful finds to York!

YORK, Pa. — Walking down North Beaver Street in York, you can't miss Feral Heart Club.

You'll immediately be greeted at the door by Pierre, the four-legged fashion guru. And once inside, by bright pink walls, shimmery disco balls and plenty of vintage finds.

"More is more and less is a bore," says owner Ariel Linebaugh.

Linebaugh's love for fashion started in high school, collecting vintage clothing.

She opened Feral Heart Club just about a year ago. And she's just bright and warm as her store!

"I love clothing, and I want to rescue them all and I want to just build my little community," said Linebaugh. "Just be, you know, your local dopamine fashion source."

"Dopamine Dressing" is a new trend spreading happiness and confidence through clothing and styling.

It's an experience and feeling Linebaugh has strived to give others her entire life.

"You should love every article of clothing that you own. And when you put it on, you should feel 100% incredible about it," she said. "When you look good, you feel good."

And Linebaugh isn't the only local business owner spreading positivity through fashion.

Victoria Kageni Woodard has been living in York County for nearly the past decade.

She was born and raised in Kenya, and she brings that flair to her store, Gusa by Victoria.

"Like taking the fabrics that I work with, especially African prints that are very vibrant and very colorful, and it immediately takes me to a place of, of just happiness," said Kageni-Woodard. "That really speaks loudly about the person that you are, it announces your arrival at any occasion, any place of work."

Shopping at either spot, you're not just supporting local businesses but helping the environment, too.

"Not only am I going out and sourcing like the really cool vintage pieces, I do a lot of repair and restoration," said Linebaugh.

Feral Heart Club is holding its grand opening in York this October.
