PENNSYLVANIA, USA — As we begin a brand new month, we're taking a look back at some of the positive things that happened across central Pennsylvania last month.
We're kicking things off in the Central York School District, where a community hero was honored!
District leaders recognized bus driver Tammy Specht, whose quick thinking helped keep students safe.
This past April, she was driving a van on Route 30 when she noticed a speeding box truck. The truck ended up causing a crash, but Tammy was able to maneuver her van—with students on it—out of harm’s way.
In Lancaster County, two high school rugby teams celebrated becoming back-to-back champions!
The Knightmare Rugby Football Club's boys and girls teams both won the Rugby Pennsylvania State Championships.
Their coaches say the club's values of honesty, respect and commitment were on full display, as both teams battled to earn back-to-back titles.
Knightmare RFC is made up of students from York, Dauphin and Lancaster counties.
And over in Manheim Township, firefighters saved a four-legged friend!
Sassy the beagle was wedged between a compost box, fence and shed. It took the crew about 20 minutes to lift the box and dig Sassy out to safety.
She was then happily reunited with her owner.
