YORK, Pa. — Over the weekend, the community honored a York boy who has collected thousands of donations for a local animal rescue.
These donations make a positive impact on West York BARk.
Corbin Shanabrough chose to spend his 10th birthday packing a U-Haul full of donations for animals in need. Over the past three years, he's collected more than 3,600 donations for Boro Animal Response krew in West York.
“I thought of all those animals that were starving and didn't have homes, and I thought of that and told to my parents I want to do a pet drive,” said Shanabrough.
BARK is a nonprofit formed by Shelley Metzler. The team is made up of volunteers who respond to animal emergencies, search for lost pets and help them find foster and forever homes.
Metzler hopes her son's actions inspire others to make a difference, too.
Shanabrough was awarded a proclamation for his work helping animals from West York BARk and both the West York Fire and Police Departments.
