BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. — Move over Punxsutawney Phil and Gus! A new groundhog is making waves in the Keystone State.
Employees were shocked to find an unusual "prize" -a live groundhog- inside one of their claw machine games. The curious creature was safely captured and released unharmed, but its legacy has been long-lasting!
On Aug. 9, The Meadows Original Frozen Custard of Hollidaysburg announced they would be hosting a naming contest for the groundhog. The winner would receive a $25 gift card to the business.
There were hundreds of name suggestions, including Woody (short for woodchuck) C. (for the claw machine) Bunker (because he got stuck in the bunker i.e. the claw machine), Meadow, Punxsutawney Chill, Clawd and Scoop.
However, the ultimate winner ended up being Colonel Custard!
The little girl who discovered Colonel Custard is also expected to be treated by The Meadows of Hollidaysburg, according to their Facebook post.
