HARRISBURG, Pa. — Four eggs have hatched and one is still on the way in Harrisburg!
Nature lovers can watch the Pennsylvania Falcon Cam, run by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), to keep up with the peregrine falcon chicks and their parents.
Peregrine falcons have made their home on the 15th floor of the Rachel Carson State Office Building in downtown Harrisburg for years. Viewers can tune into four cameras (including infrared for nighttime viewing) that offer a unique, real-time view of the nesting site.
The DEP also runs Falcon Wire News, which frequently updates about the nest and its occupants. As of Sunday, April 28, chick number four hatched around 3:15 p.m. The fifth and final chick is expected to hatch in two or three days as it was laid several days after full-time incubation began.
