PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Welcome to the next month of the FOX43 Book Club!
We are partnering with local libraries to create a Book Club featuring authors from Pennsylvania, highlighting the stories of our surrounding communities.
June's pick is "Ask the Passengers" by A.S. King.
"Ask the Passengers" finds Astrid Jones trying to cope with small town ideologies, life's big questions and how to fit in. No one in her life wants all the love she has to give, and she feels she can't give it to her crush—a girl named Dee—without risking the wrath of her small town filled with even smaller minds. So instead, Astrid sends her regards to the passengers in airplanes flying far overhead. Little does she know that her love is felt across the miles.
Amy Sarig King was born in Pennsylvania and moved around for years—including a decade in Ireland—before returning to the Keystone State, where she now lives in Lititz. She has written a number of young adult novels and Middle Grade fiction under the pen name A.S. King, chosen for her initials and because it spells "asking." King spends much of her time traveling the country speaking to students and educators about youth mental health.
Those who are interested in reading along with the Book Club can find the book at many online retailers or at libraries in the surrounding area. A catalog search found copies in the York, Lancaster, Lebanon, Adams, Juniata and Cumberland County library systems. Readers can also ask their preferred library to request the book from Access PA, a statewide library resource-sharing network.
