Cumberland County man charged with homicide by vehicle following deadly crash

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — A Cumberland County man is facing charges in connection to the death of a pedestrian in August of this year. 

According to the Carlisle Police Department, on Oct. 30, Douglas L. Gibb, 64 from Carlisle, was charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI, involuntary manslaughter, two counts of DUI and reckless driving. 

The charges stem from Aug. 29 when officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck near the intersection of S. Hanover and E. South Streets.

The victim was reportedly struck as she was crossing the street at a crosswalk; she was transported to the hospital but was later pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.  

Gibb turned himself in at the office of Magisterial District Judge Birbeck.
