LANCASTER, Pa. — The coolest camp at the coldest time of year returns to the Lancaster Science Factory this season.
Science, technology, engineering and math, also known as "STEM," is the focus of these Winter STEM Camps. Kids can spark their imagination and curiosity, all while learning new skills.
"We do all of our programming generally screen-free if we can help it," Amanda Bakay, director of programs and communications at the Lancaster Science Factory, said. "We really want kids to experiment, try something new, not be afraid to maybe mess up the first time and then try again or make their design better."
Parents have the option to sign their child up for just the morning or afternoon session, or students can pack a lunch and stay all day.
The camps run from Dec. 27 through Dec. 30 and is $40 per camper. Scholarships are available for families who need financial assistance. Most camps are open to students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
"We're not like school," Bakay said. "So even if their child is maybe struggling with a certain subject, they're probably not going to have that same experience here, and it might actually lead them to be more interested in the things they're studying in the classroom."
