Fig & Barrel Pub stirs up specials for York City Drink Week

The Fig & Barrel Pub is experimenting with smoked cocktail concepts for York City Drink Week.

YORK, Pa. — The Fig & Barrel Pub is stirring up specials for York City Drink Week.

The week-long event is designed to encourage people to visit bars and restaurants in downtown York to discover all they have to offer.

Fig & Barrel has created a variety of special cocktails to pour over the week. The eatery is experimenting with smoked cocktail concepts. These are drinks created with ingredients carefully selected to interact with “flavored” wood smoke, creating a layered profile where the flavor of the spirits and the aromatic qualities of the smoke complement each other.

"Fig & Barrel is also launching their fall cocktail menu soon," Rita Tucaho, bartender, said. "So, hopefully some of these drinks are here to stay, and some are just for the week."

One of the featured creations for Drink Week is the Campfire Marshmallow cocktail, made with bourbon, a dash of Ardbeg Single Malt, marshmallow syrup and pecan smoke. The other cocktails include the Fig-ure Me Out, Pumpkin Spiced Infused Espresso Martini, The Salted Carmel Apple, Autumn Ash, Spice of My Life and mocktails Magic Apple #2 and Sweater Weather.

Those who want to learn to mix like the pros can attend a cocktail class Tucaho teaches once a month at Fig & Barrel.

York City Drink Week continues through Sept. 28.

The Fig & Barrel Pub can be found at 25 W. Market St. in downtown York and is open Monday - Thursday from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. - 2 a.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 a.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
