PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Wendy's announced its famous Frostys will be $1 through the remainder of September, along with a new partnership with a website that tracks broken McDonald's ice cream machines.
Wendy's stated in a press release its new partnership with McBroken.com., a website that updates customers on the status of McDonald's ice cream machines across the U.S.
"Using data from McBroken.com, Wendy's saw that dessert fans are faced with ice cream machine outages all too often and knew just what the fix was – a Frosty! Wendy's knows that when fans are craving a sweet treat, they deserve to have a reliable and delicious option," Wendy's said in a press release. "To make sure that fans with a sweet tooth are covered, Wendy's is mobilizing to bring consumers Frosty treats in their times of greatest need. And for just a buck, for a limited time!"
McBroken is a website created by Rashiq Zahid in 2020 after feeling frustrated about the amount of broken McFlurry machines. The website consists of a map of every McDonald's in the U.S. with various colored dots.
A green dot means the ice cream machine is working, a red dot means it's broken and a gray dot is inconclusive.
Now partnered with Wendy's, the map added every Wendy's location in the U.S. with Wendy's face.
On the right side of the map, there is a list of statistics with the first being the percentage of McDonald's ice cream machines that are broken in the U.S. It also shows individual state and city statistics.
Customers looking for a sweet fix can redeem the Frosty deal on the Wendy's app through Sept. 30.
