'We don't like to quit' | Lancaster pizzeria goes viral for food creation after hardship

Rosa Rosa Pizzeria in Lancaster created a special pizza that has become a social media success.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Rosa Rosa Pizzeria in Lancaster has created a special pizza that has become a social media success.

Angelo DiSomma, owner of the family-owned pizzeria, says the Bomber Pizza, which is half cheesesteak stromboli, half pizza, has received a lot of attention on Instagram and TikTok, with people traveling from across the East Coast to get a taste.

He says he got the idea for the special pizza from Italy.

“They have what's basically a stromboli but wrapped up and they have pizzas. So, I thought what if I brought the two together and added something that Philadelphia and people in Pennsylvania love, which is cheesesteak, and brought it all together," DiSomma said.

But before the success, he says he dealt with some major challenges personally and professionally.

DiSomma's father, who was the original owner, died in 2009 from a car accident after being in a coma for about a year. Rosa's also closed down in 2009 and had a fire in 2016. The pizzeria reopened in 2018.

"We don't like to quit; that's for sure," said DiSomma.

He also says it's amazing to see how successful they are now and how the Bomber Pizza has become a staple in Central Pennsylvania.

"They stop by and say, 'I saw this on TikTok. I want to try out this pizzeria.' And they swing by. It's actually really beautiful to see," said DiSomma.

He says in the future, they plan to open other Rosa Rosa Pizzeria locations in different states and make new food creations.
