Creativity is the cook in the Cabalar Meat Co. kitchen

Cabalar Meat Co. made its own version of a viral Chicken alla Vodka sandwich, to much excitement from their fans.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Just in time for National Sandwich day this Sunday, a viral sandwich is gaining popularity on social media.

Cabalar Meat Co. got in on the fun with its own version of the Chicken alla Vodka sandwich, which is stacked with Cabalar's own vodka sauce, house aioli, basil pesto and fried chicken cutlets.

"It's getting very popular; everyone is doing one, so we wanted to put our stamp on it," Christopher Meagher, chef, said.

He says the restaurant frequently sells out of the sandwich when they run the special.

"We're trying to do something new and creative every week, which is a bit of a push, but that's usually the sweet spot," Meagher said. "Me and my chef team are coming up all the time in the kitchen with new stuff to try and test out."

One of Cabalar's staple creations is a Sweet Heat burger. Meagher says it's one of the top five most popular menu choices among patrons of the restaurant.

"I hope they feel the creativity that's going on behind the kitchen doors," Meagher said. "I hope that they're feeling what we're putting into the food; it's a lot of effort, a lot of love that the team's putting into everything. So I hope that's coming through when people are dining with us."

The eatery is open from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday at 501 W. Lemon Street in Lancaster. Foodies can find more information about the restaurant on its website, Facebook and Instagram.
