PENNSYLVANIA, USA — For the second consecutive year, Pennsylvania was named the best state for pizza based on a survey conducted by Clever.

Clever Real Estate's data team conducted a study to determine which city in the U.S. is the best for pizza. Clever used a list of metrics in the study like pizza reputation based on a survey of 1,000 Americans, average Yelp ratings on pizza restaurants, average prices of pizzas and more.

Philadelphia was ranked No. 4 in the survey, revealing that the city has 33% more pizza restaurants per 100,000 residents than the average city.

On the pizza passion metric, Philadelphia scored an 86/100 based on Google search activity for pizza terms. The city also ranked No. 2 in online search interests for varieties of pizza like Margherita pizza, pizza bagels and tomato pie.

After gathering results, the survey revealed that Pittsburgh had some of the best pizza prices. Ranked No. 10, Pittsburgh pizza is 18% cheaper than the typical city's price ($19.34), according to the analysis. Pittsburgh's average price of pizza is about $15.90, which was the fourth-lowest price revealed by the study.

Based on the volume of local Google searches for pizza-elated terms, Pittsburgh scored a 90/100 on Clever's pizza passion metric. This score was 25% higher than the average city's pizza passion score, 72.

Pittsburgh also ranked No. 2 nationally for search interest in French bread pizza and No. 3 for interest in tomato pie.

Since Philadelphia and Pittsburgh were both within the top 10 cities, Clever deemed Pennsylvania as the best state for pizza in the U.S.
