PENNSYLVANIA, USA — A Tröegs Independent Brewing pumpkin ale specialty is returning for the fall season.
Starting Monday, Sept. 23, Master of Pumpkins will be available in stores or on draft anywhere Tröegs beer is sold.
In preparation for the brewing of the seasonal ale, the local brewery sources 3,000 pounds of longneck pumpkins every year, all locally grown.
“To us, a pumpkin beer should have pumpkins, and fortunately they grow really well in Pennsylvania,” says brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner in a press release. “We think our fans appreciate this beer’s connection to local agriculture.”
When the pumpkins are ready to be used, brewery staff clean, cut, roast and purée the pumpkins before adding them to the mash tun. The ale is also spiced with cinnamon, clove, ginger and nutmeg to bring out the ambiance of the fall season.
“Bringing this beer to life really is a labor of love and a brewery-wide effort,” says Trogner.
Establishments that sell Tröegs beer and the breweries' beers can be found using the Tröegs Brew Finder.
