Gritty welcomes emotional support alligator to Flyers game

Wally the alligator was denied entrance to a Phillies game on Sept. 27, but the Flyers had no such reservations about welcoming a new scaly friend.

PHILADELPHIA — About a month after being denied entrance to a Phillies game, an unusual emotional support animal found his people—and mascot.

Gritty welcomed Wally Gator to a Flyers game on Monday night, cuddling with the gator and holding him up during the "Lion King Cam."

The Flyers weren't quite as cold-blooded to Wally as the Phillies, who wouldn't let the reptile into a baseball game with his human in September.

It seems that the home of the Flyers made an exception for Wally—according to its website, The Wells Fargo Center welcomes patrons who require the use of a service dog, when the animal has been individually trained or is in training to do work or perform tasks for the patron.

All other animals are prohibited (with the exception of miniature horses that also may qualify as service animals).

Joie Henney of Lebanon County adopted Wally when he was just a year old and says the affectionate alligator loves hugs, cuddles and being with people.

The gator has amassed a following of fans on Instagram and TikTok.
