HALETHORPE, Md. — St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching, which means now could be the perfect time to visit a Guinness Brewery to learn more about the iconic Irish brew.
It turns out you can do just that without even boarding an airplane.
Guinness Open Gate Brewery Baltimore is just one of two Guinness breweries in the United States. Located one hour south of York, Pennsylvania, it's the perfect road trip for the Irish and Irish at heart.
“It’s such a different experience,” said marketing manager Oliver Gray. “It's part American craft beer taproom, part walk in restaurant, but we’ve also got hundreds of years of Guinness history around us. We’ve got over 100 artifacts from Dublin.”
Boasting a tap listed with something for every taste, from beverages brewed on-site, to that classic Guinness Draught Stout still only brewed in Ireland. There’s also a menu packed with classic Irish dishes.
“Our fish and chips is amazing this year; we borrowed our recipe from the storehouse in Dublin, so it’s a real Irish recipe,” explained Gray.
With St. Patrick's Day on deck, they’re pulling out all the stops to keep the party going all month long.
Gray says, “If there’s any time to celebrate Guinness and being Irish, it’s St. Patrick's Day.”
This year, their Irish Village features food stalls, Irish music, Irish dancing and a chance to personalize your drink with a selfie printed on the head of the beer.
