YORK, Pa. — Dogs Timmy and Toby have become the unofficial mascots for Ales for Tails, an annual fundraiser giving back to local animal rescues.
Event co-founder Amanda Brindle says the event started back in 2022 to raise money for a medical foster named Cupcake.
"Seeing Cupcake for what she went through as a mill mom and basically thrown away in the trash.. to being rescued, to then being medically fostered permanently," said Brindle. "That right there was the push, and these dogs deserve the best and we're hoping we can give that to them."
Now in Cupcake's memory, Ales for Tails is giving back to three different animal organizations this year. S.N.O.R.T Rescue, Blind Dog Rescue and Animal Rescue Inc. will benefit from the fundraiser.
Organizers hope to raise $30,000, so each rescue can be gifted $10,000 to continue their important work for animals.
"Dogs don't have a voice, and we have to speak up for them," said Brindle. "A lot of these rescues, when they get these dogs they are in rough shape. They don't know what it feels like to be loved."
Ales for Tails is happening Saturday, Aug. 10 from noon to 10 p.m. at Gift Horse Brewing, which can be found at 117 N. George St. in York. It's put on by the Buy Local Coalition, a group in York supporting other York small businesses.
This year will have an Olympic theme and again include a donation-based dunk tank.
"To raise money for these well deserving rescues, it just warms my heart and makes so happy that I’m able to give back to them," said Brindle.
