YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Give Local York 2024 gets underway on May 2 at 9 p.m. and runs through May 3 at 9 p.m.
"It's the biggest and best day of giving in York County, benefiting the most number of nonprofits," said Give Day coordinator Kate Harmon.
It coincides with First Friday each year.
"Now we're hitting the crunch time," said Harmon. "We have less than a month."
The community can donate in this upcoming 24-hour blitz to roughly 300 nonprofits throughout York County. Harmon says this year’s goal is to get more than 13,000 donors, which she says equates to 3% of the county's population.
"When I say every donation matters, I mean it," said Harmon. "That check for $10 is the same as a check for $10,000. So we're really rewarding and making things more equitable for all of our nonprofits."
New this year, organizers are making a targeted push for the Hanover area, launching Give Local Hanover.
All nonprofits will also be registered on GLY 365, where people can donate year-round.
"The small and extra small nonprofits—which make up more than half of our nonprofits—say they don't have a way to do this year-round," said Harmon. "So, we are giving them that platform."
