Teen gives back to Children's Miracle Network | On the Bright Side

A Dauphin County teen continues to give back to a program that supported him while he was in the hospital.

BRESSLER, Pa. — Sixteen-year-old Hunter Buck has been giving back to the Children's Miracle Network for nearly half his life.

A hospital stay at just 4 years old inspired his movement, Hunter's Kids Helping Kids.

"We started it with Hunter taking a hockey puck from a Hershey Bears game to the head," said his mom, Renee Buck. "We go to the hospital and he's given bubbles, matchbox cars, crayons, and we're asking, 'where did this stuff come from?'"

They quickly learned the Children's Miracle Network provided the toys that helped Hunter have a more enjoyable experience.

So when Hunter turned 9, he decided to give back.

Seven years and nearly $40,000 in donations later, Hunter's mission continues this summer. Preparations are well underway for his annual Party in the Park

It's happening on Oct. 5 at Cibort Park in Bressler. New this year, organizers have also added a motorcycle ride.

Their goal is to raise $10,000 for CMN, but Hunter is hoping for a little more.

"I feel like we're about to raise $11,000 this year. That's my goal," he said.

And he plans to do so with the help of his community.

"I just feel proud for all the people just helping us get all this together," said Hunter.
