York County firefighters honored for rescuing 9-year-old from burning building

Four heroic firefighters responded to a fire in August and were able to pull a nine-year-old boy out of the burning building.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Firefighters in York County were honored Tuesday evening for an extraordinary act of bravery.

Four firefighters with York Township Goodwill Fire Company One received awards for their lifesaving actions. The group responded to a fire in August and was able to pull a nine-year-old out of the burning building.

The company chief says the group is just doing their duties.

"It's an honor to serve the community, serve the people, the township and the surrounding municipalities," said Chief Darryl Ehrhart. "[I'm] very proud of the crews from my department that went in, got the job done and very grateful that everything worked out."

York Township leaders also applauded that no firefighters were hurt in the rescue either.
