New holiday attraction in York spreads holiday cheer in more ways than one

Bright Nights York brings community members together ahead of the holidays in support of local organizations.

YORK, Pa. — This holiday season, WellSpan Park in York is transforming into a winter wonderland with the launch of Bright Nights York

Cody Bannon, director of marketing for the York Revolution, emphasized that this new initiative aims to provide an unforgettable experience for families from York and beyond.

“We’re building this event to be something that all families can come and enjoy,” Bannon stated.

Visitors can expect to be enchanted by three million lights illuminating the park while popular holiday tunes set the scene for those walking through the display. Bannon shared that by walking through the light show attendees get a more interactive and memorable experience.

“You’re actually walking through the lights, immersing yourself in the different displays and there are numerous opportunities to take pictures. It’s just an overall good event for families to come and enjoy a fun, holiday-spirited time,” Bannon said.

The attraction will feature multiple light displays, Christmas trees decorated by local non-profit groups, and appearances from Santa, his reindeer, and even some beloved Disney princesses.

Bright Nights York will be open six days a week from November 15 through December 30, making it accessible for families looking to partake in festive activities.

To make the event affordable for everyone, Bannon noted that ticket prices will be comparable to the stadium’s local baseball events, ensuring families can participate without breaking the bank.

“Prices everywhere are expensive, but we wanted to make sure everyone could come and attend this event with their families,” he explained.

In the spirit of giving, Bright Nights York will also support local non-profits by donating one dollar from each ticket sale to Give Local York. Additionally, donations from the community will be collected each week for six local non-profit organizations, including Coats of Friendship, New Hope Ministries, Keystone Kidspace, Community Progress Council, the York SPCA, and Creative York.

A winter wonderland tradition that Bannon says will continue for many holiday seasons to come.

“This is something that’s going to continue to grow each year. We’ll keep adding to it, learning from feedback since this is a new event for us, and we can keep building upon it year after year.”
