FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — A holiday light display contest in Chambersburg aims to spread holiday cheer and raise funds for a good cause.

The Chambersburg Chamber announced the inaugural Deck the Town: Holiday Light Display Contest. Community members are invited to enter the contest by Dec. 9.

Participation is free and the contest is open to homes and businesses in the greater Chambersburg area.

The event will celebrate the holiday season and funds raised will be donated to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter (CVAS).

Here's how the contest works:

1. Enter your property: Submit your holiday display (home or business) by Monday, December 9 at tinyurl.com/deckthetown.

2. Explore the map: On Wednesday, Dec. 11, a community map featuring all participating properties will be released for public viewing.

3. Cast your votes: Voting runs from Dec. 11 through Dec. 22, and votes are $1 each. All voting will be submitted online at CVBAlliance.org/Events

4. Winners announced: Winners in the residential and commercial divisions will be announced on Dec. 23 via Facebook.com/CburgChamber and in the next edition of the Chambersburg Chronicle.

Whether you’re decorating a home or business, this contest is a great opportunity to get in the holiday spirit and make a difference,” said Lark Kennedy, communications manager for the Chambersburg Chamber. “Let’s light up Chambersburg and support the important work the animal shelter does each day for our community!”
