Holiday-themed activities and sights to see in Lancaster County for 2023

Lancaster County is full of Christmas and holiday events, making it a fun trip for any age!

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Lancaster County is full of Christmas and holiday events for those ages one to 100 years old! 

Check out Discover Lancaster's list of events happening throughout the 2023 holiday season below: 

Small Business Saturday: Shop small and support local businesses on Nov. 25 in the City of Lancaster!

Mayor's Tree Lighting: Browse through local ships, listen to live music and see the Mayor's Tree Lighting on Nov. 24! 

Tuba Christmas: The Lancaster City favorite is back Dec. 1 at 8 p.m., filling Ewell Plaza with the sounds of spirited brass music!

Christmas at Stone Gables Estate: Visit a fully decorated Star Barn on Dec. 2 at the Christkindl Market and then meet Santa and his helpers at the Christmas Village at Stone Gables Estate. There's plenty for guests to do, from taking a magical narrated train through the estate or celebrating Christmas from the comfort of your car! 

A Christmas Carol: The Musical: Watch the classical tale of Ebenezer Scrooge take the stage while enjoying a delicious meal at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater. This holiday musical will run from Nov. 17 through Dec. 30. 

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat: Located at the Fulton Theatre, visitors will enjoy stellar performances and infectious tunes for the holidays. The musical will be held from Nov. 17 to Dec. 30. 

The 2023 Christmas Show: The First Noel: Running from Nov. 21 to Dec. 30 at the American Music Theatre, this holiday musical extravaganza celebrates the joys and merriment of the holidays! The show includes moving renditions of festive tunes and embraces the beloved traditions of the holidays. 

Holiday Arts Market: Experience the enchantment of Ewell Plaza's outdoor holiday arts market, where local artisans gather to showcase their skills. For the 2023 holiday lineup, click here

Menorah Lighting: Head to Penn Square during the evening hours of Dec. 7-14 for the Menorah Lightings! 

Christmas Trivia at Grandview Vineyard: How good is your holiday knowledge? Brush up for exciting rounds of Christmas trivia on Dec. 7 in an upbeat atmosphere. Whether you're a holiday-movie expert or a Christmas music super fan, trivia night will provide festive memories for all participants! 

Lancaster Shops Late: On Dec. 8, enjoy late-night shopping during this once-a-year retail experience. For a full list of participating shops, click here

Dinner with Mrs. Clause: Complete some holiday shopping in the Kitchen Kettle Village from Nov. 25 to Dec. 16 and then enjoy a traditional dinner with Mrs. Claus and Yummie, alongside storytelling and a special gift to take home.

Dutch Winter Wonderland: Make lasting memories with themed rides, special entertainment and a lights show at Dutch Winter Wonderland, which will run from Nov. 18 to Jan. 1. It’s a holiday experience that has been nominated for USA Today’s 2023 10 Best Readers' Choice award for the Best Theme Park Holiday Event.



Christmas Down on the Farm: Enjoy Christmas at Barnyard Kingdom! From a farm fresh breakfast, giant slides, fire pits, barnyard animals, an elf scavenger hunt and more, there's plenty to enjoy! 

Yuletide at Wheatland: Tour President James Buchanan's Wheatland from Nov. 20 to Dec. 30 for Yuletide at Wheatland! Accompany a tour guide and traverse the festively decorated halls and rooms of the 1828 mansion. From Yuletide menus and meals to how Christmastime was celebrated during the Civil War, viewers will learn how Buchanan and his family experienced Yuletide in the mid-1800s. 

Christmas Lights and Ziplining: Running Nov. 24 to Jan. 7, guests can enjoy eight miles of Christmas lights at the Refreshing Mountain Adventure Center! Drive through the Christmas lights display or zipline through the spectacle.

Polar Bear Express: Guests on this train are leaving the North Pole to find Santa! The conductor shares a special Christmas story with the children on the way and Santa will board the train with a gift for every child at the North Pole! This event will run from Nov. 24 to Dec. 17! 

Christmas Spirit Light Show at Clipper Magazine Stadium: Running Nov. 24 through Dec. 31, this exciting, one-of-a-kind Christmas light display can be viewed from the comfort of your car. Journey through hundreds of thousands of color-changing lights on this mile-long track, dancing in harmony to popular Christmas classics. 

Christmas Trains at Strasburg Rail Road: Meet Santa onboard Santa's Paradise Express, Santa's Christmas Trolley and the Christmas Caboose Charter at the Strasburg Rail Road. Guests can also see the classic story come to life onboard the train during the Night Before Christmas Train or pick out their own tree during the Christmas Tree Train. Operating from November to December, these holiday trains ensure festive fun for all visitors.
