How to make your Christmas tree last | Family First

A few small steps will keep that real Christmas tree looking great through the holidays.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree, is it too early to put up your Christmas tree? It's a debate that happens every year.

Rick Doyle, Christmas tree expert and owner of Family Tree Farm L.L.C. in York County, offers these tips to keep your tree fresh, green and full through the holidays:

  • Put your tree in water as soon as possible—no excuses.
  • Use a Christmas tree preservative.
  • Avoid setting up your tree near a heat source or in direct sunlight.

Doyle says, "if you do the right things to take care of it, a good tree will last."

The Family Tree Farm will be hosting an open house on Nov. 18 from 9 - 5 p.m.
