JUNIATA COUNTY, Pa. — Central Pennsylvania is invited to soar away on the wings of delicious food and drink at the Juniata River Valley Flight School.
While patrons won't learn to fly, they will have the chance to sample curated flights of beer, wine, spirits, coffee and ice cream from 23 local eateries spanning Mifflin and Juniata counties.
"I think it's going to be a fun opportunity for a date night or a family outing to go and share some flights together," Buffie Boyer, communications director of the Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau, said.
Each purchase elevates customers closer to pie-in-the sky prizes as they log each stop on the trail on their digital passport. The passport also offers discounts to participating shops.
"From the initial talks of everything it just sounded like a good opportunity for gathering in the community," Kathryn Wagner with East End Coffee said. "In a smaller community, sometimes it's easier to forget about, you know, the little places that are on the outskirts of town that deserve the same love and attention, and this is a good way for everybody to sort of knock it off their bucket list and go in and at least try it once."
East End Coffee is one of the stops along the trail. The café designed two flights for the occasion, one for coffee purists and one "fun."
"One is more of a discerning palate, it's more of the black coffee tasting notes," Wagner.
She says the other flight consists of coffee and non-coffee flavors that "we felt really represented summer."
The summer flight includes a honey lavender latte, a Juniata jungle juice, a chai latte and a caramel macchiato.
The Flight School is free to join. Click here to sign up for a digital passport and let your taste buds soar around the Valley. The trail runs until April 30, 2025.
